PostSubject: How to import/export items to GunZ   Sun Nov 08, 2009 4:26 am

First of all: This tutorial took me a lot of time so please dun flame too much. Improvement is ok, but pls dont flame.

Let's start: In this tutorial I'ma show you, how to import/export weapons from/to GunZ.

What you need:

Mrs unpacker:
Mirror 2:
Mirror 3:

32 bit:
64 bit:

Elu Import + Gunz Export:
Elu Import/export:
Mirror 2:
Mirror 3:

Step 1: Download all the tools above.

Step 2: Unpack the files or install them (Blender)

Step 3: Put the and the in your Blender > .blender > Scripts folder.

Step 4: Copy and paste your Dark GunZ > model.mrs to the place where you saved your mrs unpacker. Now go there, run the cmd and type "mrs.exe d "model.mrs". Now it decompiles the model.mrs and makes a folder called model.

Step 5: Run Blender and make/open your weapon. (I will not teach you how to make weapons here, but I can give you links to a few good ones:)
Blender 3D - Noob to Pro (wikibook)
Hotkeys in Object Mode (wikibook)
Hotkeys in Edit Mode (wikibook)

Styx' cookie tut (ragezone)
Ryu.BZ's blender tut (darkgunz)

This one tought me how to Blender:

Kerdex' Blender tut - Part 2 (youtube)

Step 6: Import a weapon of gunz to Blender. Click File > Import > Gunz (.elu) and choose the weapon you want to be replaced with your own.

Step 7: Now resize your model and rotate it that it actually matchs up with the imported one (most important is the holding). We do this because we want the model to come up correctly in game. After that delete the imported weapon again

Step 8: Now we come to a quite difficult step which causes most exporting problems and errors:
On the bottom of the screen there should be a window which looks like in the pictures. If not, just split the windows and set one window mode to "Buttons Window".
Now go to Shaders, like in the picture and go on Materials. After that, "ADD NEW".

Stay in Shaders, but now go to the picture which looks like tiger fur and "ADD NEW" again.

Now select Image as Texture type and browse for your texture.

Step 9: Now we're going to export, click: File > Export > Gunz (*.elu) and put it in your decompiled model folder (replace it with the weapon you used for size matchup). The used texture must be in the same folder.
Exporting versions are as follows: I recommed that you use Version 4

Version 4: Items w/ Alphas (Gun, sword, medkit, etc. with transparency)
Version 5: Items w/ Alphas (Gun, sword, medkit, etc. with transparency) [File size slightly smaller than V. 4]
Version 6: Items (Gun, sword, medkit, etc. No transparency) [File size slightly larger than V. 5]
Version 7: Clothes [Can also be used for items, but this Version is specialized for clothes.]

Step 9: After that, compile the folder again to model.mrs and put it back to your gunz folder.

Note: Blender does not auto save or asks you to save when you close it. So always remember to save your models...

If I forgot something or if you have questions, post here, pm me or add me on msn:
